AIIMS MBBS Admisssion 2018, Prospectus | Application Form | Exam Dates | Counseling:


AIIMS – MBBS 2018 Online Registration: Online Registration for Admission into 5½ Years’ Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) including One Year’s Compulsory Internship offered at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences leading to Award of Degree in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. Online Registration for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Entrance Test 2018 for Admission into the MBBS – 2018 for the Academic Session 2018 – 2019 shall commence in January 2018 as per the Date declared in the MBBS Information Bulletin / Admission Brochure 2018.



AIIMS MBBS Admisssion 2018 Registration 



Eligibility Criteria:



Age Limitation (As On 31.12.2018)


General / Un-Reserved Candidates should have attained Minimum 17 Years (i.e., the Candidate born on or after the 2nd of January 2002 are Ineligible to apply).


Educational Qualification:


The Candidates should have passed 12th Class under 10+2 Scheme / Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination recognized by the Central Board of Secondary Education / Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) with 60% Marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Reserved Category Candidates should have obtained 50% Marks) or Equivalent thereof recognized by the Central Government  / State Government in other States.   


Foreign Nationals should have obtained Minimum Qualifying 50% Marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Subjects.


AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test e-Admit Cards:


The Office of the Controller of Examinations will release the e-Admit Cards for the Candidates 03 Weeks prior to conduct of the All India Competitive Examination / Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Entrance Examination (MBBS Entrance Examination) 2018.


No Candidate will be permitted to appear in the MBBS Entrance Examination unless he / she holds a valid “Admit Card” issued by the Institute and a Proof of their respective Identification as intimated in the Admit Card.


Therefore, all the Candidates shall have to appear at Computer Based Online Test Based MBBS Entrance Examination, which would be conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi on the Date in either of Two Shifts (9:00 AM to 12:30 PM & 3:00 PM to 06:30 PM) as allotted. The Venue, Time and the Shift of the Competitive Entrance Examination would be communicated to the Candidates in the e-Admit Card issued to them.


As per the Initiative taken by the Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, the Competitive Entrance Examination of MBBS-2017 is being conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only in 2017.


  • The MBBS Entrance Examination shall be held in Two Sessions (Morning and Afternoon). However, in exceptional circumstances, it may be conducted in two days.

  • The Duration of the Competitive Written Examination shall be 3½ Hours (Three Hours and Thirty Minutes).

  • The Computer Based Online Entrance Examination will be conducted in Two Shifts:

            Morning Shift / First Shift:           09:00 AM to 12:30 PM


            Afternoon Shift / Second Shift:   03:00 PM to 06:30 PM 


  • The Office of the Controller of the Examination shall host the MBBS Entrance Test 2018 tentatively in as many as Centers in 171 Cities all over India.

MBBS Entrance Test 2018:


The Office of the Controller of Examinations shall conduct in May 2018 the MBBS Entrance Test 2018.


AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test 2018 – Syllabus:


The Competitive Entrance Examination will consist of One Single Paper comprising therein 200 Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion Type) based on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge / Aptitude.  The Distribution of the Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type are as follows:

Merit List:


Based on the Result of the MBBS Competitive Entrance Examination, the Merit Lists shall be prepared as below based on Percentile Scores:                         


Common Merit List (CML): Subject to the Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT)) Office Memo No. 36011/1/98. Establishment (Res), Dated 1st July 1998, it is clarified that only such Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Classes Candidates, who are selected on the same Standard as applied to General Candidates shall not be adjusted against reserved Vacancies. In other words, when a relaxed Standard is applied in selecting any SC/ST/OBC Candidates, e.g., in the Age-Limit, Experience, Qualification, permitted number of the Chances in the Entrance Examination / Competitive Written Examination, extended Zone of consideration larger than what is provided for General Category Candidates, etc., the SC/ST/OBC Candidates are to be counted against Reserved Vacancies. Such Candidates would be deemed as unavailable for consideration against the Un-Reserved Vacancies. Therefore, a Reserved Candidate will be considered on General Seat only if no Relaxation of the Eligibility Level (i.e. %age of the Marks) and at Cut-off Level in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Entrance Examination is given.

Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks:


General / Un-Reserved: 50% Marks


Other Backward Classes:  45% Marks  


Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe: 40% Marks


Preparation of Overall Rank / Merit List:


The Percentile Scores for the Total Marks for both Shifts as mentioned hereinabove would be merged and shall be arranged so as to derive an overall Merit List / Ranking. 


Please Note that the Percentile Score is not the same as the Percentage of the Marks obtained.


Methodology of Resolving TIES:


In case of any TIE (Identical Total Percentile) the order of deciding the Higher Rank / Merit would be: Percentile in Biology,


Percentile in Chemistry,


Percentile in Physics,


Percentile in General Knowledge,


Senior / Elderly by Age.


Methodology of Resolving TIES:


The Overall Merit / Ranking shall be based on the Percentile Scores of the Total Raw Scores.


The Methodology adopted for breaking TIES (similar Percentiles) shall be:


  1. Biology: Higher Percentile Scores in Biology will result in Higher Ranking;

  2. Chemistry: If Biology Percentiles do not help break the TIE, then the Higher Percentile Scores in Chemistry will result in Higher Ranking;

  3. Physics: If Biology and Chemistry Percentiles do not help in breaking the TIE, then the Higher Percentile Scores in Physics will result in Higher Ranking;

  4. Age: If Biology, Chemistry, Physics Percentiles do not still help break the TIE, then the Candidate Senior / Elder in Age will be ranked Higher.

Counseling Process:


The following Process shall be adopted for Counseling for all 07 All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) country-wide.


  1. In the Counseling Process, the seats to be filled by Open (UR) Competition would be filled up First, wherein the Candidates would be called for Counseling based on the Merit alone irrespective of whether they belong to Un-Reserved, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes.

  2. Next, Reservation Categories like Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Classes Candidates shall be counseled to fill up the Seats earmarked for them in their respective Categories. During this Process, if any Candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC, who had been granted / offered Admission under Open Competition, opts for other Institution of his / her Choice for which he or she would be Eligible as per the Rules of Reservation, the Seat vacated by him or her in Open (Un-Reserved) Competition shall be filled with a Candidate from the same Reservation Category only, in order of Merit. The Process of Counseling adopted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi is in line of Hon’ble Supreme Court’s Judgment in case of Samta Aandolan Samiti & Another. Vs. Union of India & Others.

The List of the Candidates, who qualify for Counseling for Admission into the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) Course would be declared tentatively in June 2018. Roll Numbers of the Candidates, who qualify for Counseling based Admission shall remain available on the AIIMS Website.


The Institute will not intimate the individually  Unsuccessful Candidates regarding the Result of the MBBS Entrance Test. No Correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. However, the Marks / Percentile Scores of individual Candidate will be made available on the AIIMS Website.


Counseling Overview:


Those declared Merit Listed as per the Rank and called for Counseling have to report at the Venue Site at the time on the Date as stated in the Call Letter along with the following Documents / Certificates in Original:


  • Admit Card

  • Call Letter issued by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

  • Proof of Date of Birth – Matriculation / High School Certificate, Birth Certificate issued by Local Municipal Corporation office indicating the Name and the Date of Birth of the Candidate.

  • The Certificate / Mark Sheet from the Board from under the Candidate passed the 10+2 or Equivalent Examination and secured Minimum 60% Marks by for Un-Reserved and Other Backward Classes Candidates or above in Aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic) and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

In case of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates, the Candidates should have secured at least 50% Marks or above in Aggregate in the Subjects, viz., English, Physics, Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic) and Biology (Botany & Zoology).


  • Migration Certificate (MC) from the University / Board last attended by the Candidate.

  • Certificate issued by / obtained from the prescribed Authority on the Prescribed Form as appended in the Admission Prospectus showing that the Candidates (he / she) belong to SC/ST/OBC/OPH Category (applicable only)

If you have claimed in Application that You belong to an SC/ST/OBC/OPH Category) (*OBC Certificate should be valid for the Central Government Jobs / Central Government Institutions only, otherwise, claim for OBC Reservation will not be considered).


  • Recent / Current Passport Size Photograph (Front Pose) 06 Copies.

  • One set of Self-Attested Copies of all the Certificates.

It is mandatory for all Candidates to be Physically Present, i.e., in person for Counseling on the Day as given above. No Request for Authorized Representative on behalf of the Candidate will be entertained.  If any Candidate fails to come / turn up for Counseling in person, then he / she will be marked Absent and his / her Candidature shall automatically stand Cancelled.
