for Recruitment to the Posts of Assistant Engineer against 100 Vacancies and 89 Vacancies for the Posts of Junior Engineer under Local Cadre (Hyderabad-Karnataka Region – HKR)


that the Commission shall declare the Results post-release of the Final Answers Key in order of Set A, Set B, Set C & Set D respectively for KPSC AE & JE Examination 2017.  The Common Written Examination for Karnataka Assistant Engineer & Junior Engineer Recruitment consisted of 02 Papers comprising 200 Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions each carrying 200 Marks Aggregating 400 Marks with the Provision for Penalty of ¼th of the Marks assigned to that Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions. We anticipate Karnataka Public Service Commission to announce in November / December 2017 the Result based on Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks and Final Merit List.


KPSC AE / JE Competitive Examination 2017:  


Karnataka Public Service Commission will determine the Minimum Qualifying Marks under each Category in concurrence with Announcement of the Results for the Common Written Examination for Karnataka Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer Recruitment.  Karnataka Public Service Commission shall declare the Result for the Common Written Examination based on the Final Select List drawn up in order of Merit for Recruitment to 600 Vacancies for the Post of Assistant Engineer and 289 Vacancies for the Post of Junior Engineer in the Water Resources Department.


Methodoly for Competitive Written Examination:


1) In respect of Group ‘B’ Technical Posts and Group ‘C’ Technical Posts, the Selection Authority shall conduct a Competitive Written Examination in the following manner; viz.:


The Competitive Written Examination consisting of 02 Written Papers shall comprise Multiple Choice Questions of Objective Type carrying 200 Marks each totaling 400 Marks. There shall be Negative Marking of 0.25 Marks resulting in deduction of ¼th of the Marks assigned to that Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions for every Wrong Answer.


The Test Booklet Question Papers shall be set in both Kannada and English Languages.


(i) Paper – l: General Paper: Covering General Knowledge Topics relating to Current  Events, General  Science, Indian History, Indian Geography, Social Sciences, General Mental Ability, Matters of Everyday Observation and Practical Knowledge as may be expected of any person who has passed the prescribed Qualifying Examination.


(ii) Paper – ll: Specific paper: The Content in this Paper shall be determined by the Selection Authority keeping in view the nature of the Services / Job for which the Selection is being made and the Qualifying Examination in consultation with the Head of the Field Department or the Appointing Authority concerned.


3)  The Selection Authority shall prepare a Final Selection List of the Candidates eligible for Appointment on the basis of Merit determined based on (taking into account) Aggregate / Total Percentage of the Marks secured in the Competitive Written Examination and taking into consideration Reservation Posts (Vertical and Horizontal) provided by or under any Law or Order for the time being in force.



There shall be neither Interview and nor Weight age would be given.


TIE Resolution Methodology:


4)  lf Two or more Candidates secure Equal Marks in the Competitive Written Examination, then the order of Merit of such Candidates shall be fixed on the basis of their respective Age, the Person Older in Age being placed Higher in the order of the Merit.


5) The Number of Candidates to be selected under Sub-Rule (3) shall be equal to the number of the Vacancies notified.


Knowledge of Kannada Language:


No Candidate shall qualify for the Selection to the Post of Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer unless he / she qualifies a Test in Kannada Language consisting of 01 (One) Paper carrying Maximum 180 Marks and secures Minimum Qualifying 50 Marks in the said Qualifying Test regarding knowledge of Kannada. The Standard of this Paper shall be that of First Language Kannada at Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Level / Standard.
